Heavy raifnall brought the river over the banks again last week, and what a time for Matt to do a dvd on barbel fishing. If he had stayed where he was he would have been under water within a few hours. The river is settling now and is only up by a couple of feet. Ian one of our regulars went to the Homebeat this evening and winkled one out from where the great man was fishing. The pools have settled down now and should fish well the weekend. Prior to this week, Sutton pool was fishing well with many double figure carp being taken from the surface. The increase in the sydicate has meant more bait going in this year and it is already showing in the size of the fish.

18th August, the river is fishing patchy at the moment, with several tough days due to heavy rain and cold temperatures. This did nothing to stop Richard and Huw finding a few Barbel and river Carp. Both the Home beat and Deepcroft stretches are producing fish, and at present the river is up a couple of feet and like oxtail soup.
The pools are producing good bags and Sutton is still managing to tire out guests. Carp to 18 pounds being reported, but a 3 1/2 pound Perch from Darnell pool has to be the best fish so far this month.

1st August 2008, some very heavy storms this week bringing the river up a foot or so and looking like chocolate. the fishing was patchy as temperatures fluctuated, but most anglers caught. Richard and Darren Cowling got into the Barbel, with Darren taking 11 in one session. Two of which were over 8 lb and one of 10 lb. Some good Chub and Bream also boosted the bags. Main baits waere pellet and Luncheon meat. Another bag of 8 Barbel came out of the brook pool to a syndicate member, and George landed and a couple over 8 pounds from a new swim below the steps.
Carp into double figures have been taken off the top on Darnell pools and as usual, Sutton is fishing it's head off.
